NITRC Phase 2 Posted By: David Kennedy - Oct 19, 2011Tool/Resource: NITRC Community We are pleased to announce that the NIH has decided to refund NITRC.org for another four years! This is, for the most part, thanks to the enthusiastic use and support of this resource by you, the NITRC community. With over 1.4 mil. hits per month, more than 400,000 downloads from the NITRC listed projects, and over 100 published research papers citing tools found on NITRC, we are honored to be serving such a vital community. During these next four years, though, we've been tasked with developing a sustainability plan for future funding which will shift the majority of the operational costs of NITRC away from centralized NIH support. This will undoubtedly include some combination of sponsorships, advertising, and fee-for-service enhancements. We never intend to implement a charging mechanism which would negatively impact NITRC traffic or not be in line with what is reasonable to expect from grant support for NITRC utilization. If you know anyone that might benefit from advertising on NITRC, please advise us as we'll be starting with advertising first. We will also be engaging with the community over the next few years to socialize various cost models and to secure your feedback regarding other revenue streams such as per-project line item requests for your future funding proposal budgets.
