3D Slicer 4.10.2 available for download

On behalf of the 3D Slicer developer community, we are pleased to announce that version 4.10.2 is now available for download. This patch release introduces ~30 bug fixes for the current stable Slicer release.

3D Slicer version 4.8 released!

Some release highlights:

* a simpler Data module, which integrates Subject Hierarchy;
* improvements to the Segmentations module that add effects like Grow from seeds, Fill between slices, Surface cut, Mask Volume, Watershed, Fast marching and Flood Filling;
* improvements to slice viewers, including better crosshair usability and support for slice model projection;
* support for Volumetric Meshes;
* improvements to DICOM support that enable the definition of semantic meanings and faster imports;
* improvements to the Transforms module, such as support for interactively updating transforms in the 3D view and support for visualizing displacements of individual points;
* support for fast and interactive plotting through VTK Charts; and
* the transition from the mailing list to the 3D Slicer Forum on Discourse.

3D Slicer version 4.3 released

The new release of Slicer supports many exciting core features and a wide range of extensions to support applications in neuroscience, image guided therapy, and dozens of related research areas. The software is open source with a BSD-style license and is fully python scriptable. This release represents thousands of hours of effort by developers at dozens of institutions world-wide.

New Slicer Registration Case Library

The Slicer Registration Case Library is collecting cases involving registration challenges addressed with the many registration tools available within the 3DSlicer package. Intended as a resource for the clinician researcher/end-user as specific support in addressing registration issues. Each case is embellished with a discussion on the main registration challenges, the best-practice strategies, and an example solution along with parameters and a step-by-step tutorial.

The library grows by user contribution. If you have a registration problem of whatever nature that you seek to address using 3DSlicer, consider our "Call for Datasets" and offer to add your case to the library and in turn register the data for you. More details on this offer on:

We'd also love to hear about success stories: if you have used any of the Slicer registration module successfully, we'd be happy to add that example to the library also.
